
Empal Gentong Rice Recipe
Ingredients for Fluffy Rice:
- 2 cups Maknyuss Rice
- 3 cups water
Ingredients for Empal Gentong Broth:
- 500 g beef, diced
- 10 shallots
- 5 cloves garlic
- 2 slices turmeric
- 2 slices ginger
- 5 candlenuts, roasted
- ½ tbsp coriander
- 1 nutmeg
- 3 cardamoms
- 2 cloves
- ½ tbsp pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 liter water
- 1 liter coconut milk
Side Dishes:
- Emping crackers
- Chili powder
How to Make:
- Rinse Maknyuss Rice once, cook until done, then set aside.
- Boil the beef with water until tender.
- Sauté the blended spices, add them into the beef broth, then add the remaining aromatic ingredients and coconut milk. Cook until the flavor blends well and adjust the taste.
- Serve Maknyuss Fluffy Rice with Empal Gentong, emping crackers, and chili powder.
