When cooking and storing rice in the rice cooker for a long time, you might notice that the rice becomes dry and hard. But don’t blame your rice cooker! The key lies in the correct way of cooking rice so that it turns out fluffy, stays moist, and remains delicious even after being kept for several hours in the rice cooker. Follow these steps, Mak Cuss!

1. Ensure the right ratio of rice to water

The most important step in cooking rice is getting the rice-to-water ratio right. If there’s too little water, the rice can harden and dry out faster. On the other hand, too much water will make the rice mushy, like porridge.
Ideally, for 1 cup of Maknyuss rice, use 1½ cups of water. To make it easier, use the measuring lines on the inside of your rice cooker bowl as a guide.

2. Keep the rice cooker lid tightly closed

A loose lid allows steam to escape, causing the water inside to evaporate faster. This may result in half-cooked or hard rice. Make sure your rice cooker lid is tightly closed before pressing the Cook button. If the lid feels loose, check if the rubber seal is worn out and replace it if necessary.

3. Avoid opening the lid during cooking

It’s tempting to peek inside the rice cooker to check if the rice is done. However, opening the lid during cooking allows steam to escape and lowers the cooking temperature. This can leave some rice undercooked once the water has evaporated, leading to hard and dry patches. Wait until the indicator switches to Warm before opening.

4. Fluff the rice after cooking

Once the rice cooker switches to Warm, gently fluff the rice from bottom to top. This step helps distribute the heat evenly and prevents the bottom layer from becoming crusty or hard.

5. Don’t keep rice in Warm mode for too long

Keeping rice on Warm mode from morning until night can cause it to dry out, change color, and develop a rough texture. Ideally, keep rice warm for only 4–5 hours. After that, transfer it to an airtight container at room temperature or store it in the fridge. Reheat before serving.

6. Choose high-quality rice

Quality rice makes a huge difference in the final result. One of the best options is Maknyuss Rice — processed without artificial fragrance, bleach, or preservatives, making it safe for daily family consumption. Its premium texture is naturally fluffy, with uniform and intact grains thanks to modern processing technology.

From measuring water to choosing the right rice and storing it properly, every step matters. With the right rice cooking method, you won’t have to worry about dry, crusty rice again. And with Maknyuss Rice, the results will be even more delicious. You can get it online at FKS Mart or from your nearest rice distributor. Happy cooking!
